Ford has developed a new air filter to catch even more of the unwanted microscopic particles that can make their way into a vehicle. This new Refresh95 air filter should be installed in most of Ford’s lineup by 2023.
Advanced Cabin Air Filter
The Ford Refresh95 is assembled in the US and sets a new standard for cabin air filtration. As air enters the system, it passes through a filter before moving through the climate control system. The new Refresh95 filter can snag tiny particles, even 2.5-micron examples that the EPA highlights as especially unhealthy.
How Refresh95 Works
The new Refresh95 filters air particles much smaller than a human hair. These filters remove most 2.5-micron particles such as traffic exhaust, dust, metal shavings, and bacteria. Allergens like pollen and dust are filtered out as well, along with the particulates found in smoke and smog.
The Ford Refresh95 was rigorously tested by a third-party lab and certified to work through a reasonable service interval. The new filter should be available in the fourth-quarter 2021 for installation in some vehicles, including the Mustang Mach-E, Escape, Explorer, Bronco Sport, and Maverick pickup truck. Current Ford vehicles can be retrofitted with the Refresh95 filter, and customers will be able to request the new filters during service appointments by the end of 2021.
